The One Supplement I Had to Bring Back

Image
Okay, real talk — about  six weeks ago  I dropped all my extra supplements (just kept a multivitamin) because I started a  new medication … and honestly, one thing I MISSED hardcore was this one. 👇 ✨ I started back on my stack — and the thing I  noticed first  was  Brain & Memory Power Boost . Especially the  huperzine A  in it — I feel like my memory, recall, and overall thinking just  click  again. It’s like my brain feels more present and clear. 🧠✨  Let’s break down why it’s actually  so good :  🧠  What’s inside: Phosphatidylserine — supports memory & attention Acetyl‑L‑Carnitine — for brain energy and clarity NAC & Alpha‑Lipoic Acid — powerful antioxidants Ginkgo Biloba — helps blood flow to your brain Huperzine A — supports memory by boosting acetylcholine  (that neurotransmitter tied to learning + recall)  This combo is designed to support  brain circulation, focus, recall, an...

🔥 What I Use to Make Great Coffee Without a Machine

Image
  1.   Portable Electric Kettle As long as you have a plug, you can boil water  anywhere.  This kettle heats fast, doesn’t leak, and is compact enough to toss in a bag. I use it daily — it’s the unsung hero of this whole setup. 2.  Espro Portable French Press This is how I make the actual coffee. The Espro press is compact, spill-proof, and filters out the grit. I’ve used it at home, on road trips, even outdoors — no coffee maker required. 3.  Fire Department Coffee Grounds This roast is bold, smooth, and strong — just how I like it. It brews beautifully in the French press without tasting overdone or bitter. 4.  Zulay Milk Frother This little thing takes my coffee to the next level. It froths in seconds and works with all kinds of milk. Makes your morning mug feel like a fancy coffee shop latte. 5.  MEOKY 24oz Tumbler I pour everything into this lightweight tumbler. It’s comfortable to hold (especially if you deal with joint pain), and it keeps m...

Tretinoin: How It Really Works Beneath the Skin

Image
Tretinoin has earned the title of being a gold standard in dermatology for a reason. Unlike many skincare products that just sit on the surface, tretinoin actually changes the way your skin functions at a cellular level. Here is what happens after you apply it. Absorption: The First Step Tretinoin is a small, fat-soluble molecule. That means it can pass through the outer skin barrier with relative ease. Within about 30 to 60 minutes, most of what you apply has already moved past the surface and into the deeper layers where it can start doing its job. This is why if you apply tretinoin in the morning and shower a few hours later, you are not washing away the benefit. By then, it has already entered the skin. Receptor Binding: Flipping the Switch Inside your skin cells are retinoic acid receptors, or RARs. Think of them as switches waiting to be turned on. When tretinoin binds to these receptors, it signals your cells to start expressing new patterns of genes. This is the foundation of a...

September 24, 2025 VERTIGO again

Image
Vertigo. Again. No matter how much progress I make or how disciplined I am, it still finds a way to knock me down and remind me that my body isn’t fully in my control. It’s not just dizziness—it’s a pain in the neck, literally and figuratively. I can do everything “right” and still end up feeling like I’m standing on shaky ground. 📊 Glucose This morning’s Libre 3 Plus readings stayed between  111–116 mg/dL . Smooth overnight curve, steady, no wild swings. By the numbers, this should be a solid day. But here’s the catch: reactive hypoglycemia doesn’t always play by the numbers, and even when glucose is steady, my nervous system can send my head into a spin. That disconnect is one of the most frustrating parts—it feels like my body is gaslighting me. 😴 Sleep Sleep was a mess. Out of  5 hours and 19 minutes in bed , I got just  3 hours and 52 minutes of real sleep . Only  56% efficiency , and it felt like I never fully rested. Too many awakenings, shallow cycle...

When 20 Words Turn Into 600 Likes: Pareidolia, Hypnagogic States, and Why Your Brain Shows You Demonic Faces

Image
I didn’t expect it. A quick reply to someone’s TikTok about massage and seeing demon faces in her mind’s eye suddenly took off. The comment itself only got about fifteen replies, but it racked up nearly 600 likes. Most of the replies were people thanking me for putting logic into something they didn’t quite understand, and a few massage therapists even chimed in to say,  “Yes, that’s exactly what it is.”  Honestly, I was both surprised and amused — it wasn’t a lecture, just twenty words in passing. But it struck a chord. Here’s what I explained there, and what I’ll expand on here. When you’re lying face-down on a massage table, relaxed, and your body starts drifting toward sleep, you’re moving into what’s called the  hypnagogic state . It’s that liminal space where you’re not fully awake, but not fully asleep either. Your brainwaves shift gears from fast, alert beta waves, through calmer alpha, and into dreamlike theta. In this twilight zone, your sensory filters l...

Science Doesn’t Care About Your Snide Comments

Every time someone trots out the tired line  “don’t tell me how to lose weight, it’s just calories in, calories out”  they reveal how little they’ve kept up with the last decade of actual science. That phrase might sound tough, but it’s outdated and lazy. It ignores the mountain of clinical trials that have  already  proven obesity is a chronic, relapsing disease with complex hormonal, metabolic, and neurobiological roots. Pretending it’s simply about willpower is like telling a cancer patient to “just stop growing tumors.” GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 medications are not a fad, not a shortcut, and not “cheating.” They are evidence-based therapies with outcomes measured in reduced cardiovascular events, better kidney health, improved sleep apnea, and sustainable fat loss. Trials like SURMOUNT, SURPASS, SELECT, FLOW, and more have changed the entire medical landscape. The data are so compelling that these studies are published in  The New England Journal of Medicine ...

Out of the Loop by Design: The Neuroscience Behind My Discomfort with Gossip

Image
My nerdy brain loves this stuff. Anatomy and physiology have always been some of my favorite sciences to study, so it makes perfect sense that I would look for answers there. From the time I can remember, gossip has made me physically uncomfortable. I do not just dislike it, I have a visceral reaction when I am in a room and someone leaves, and suddenly the conversation turns to them. My body tightens, my chest feels heavy, and my instinct is to get away. For years I thought this was just a personal quirk, but science explains something much deeper. The brain has a region called the  anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) . It sits in the frontal part of the cingulate gyrus, wrapping around the corpus callosum, and it is a powerful regulator of social and emotional experiences. The ACC is part of what neuroscientists call the “social pain network.” Just like physical pain signals when we touch something hot or sharp, social pain lights up in the same brain regions, including the AC...

Three Years on Tirzepatide – My 61st Birthday Reflection

Image
Today, August 19th, 2025, I celebrate not only my 61st birthday but also three full years since I started tirzepatide on August 19th, 2022. Birthdays always bring a moment of reflection, but this one feels especially powerful. Three years ago, I was weighed down by more than just age and numbers on a scale. I was living with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, PCOS, insulin resistance, and hypoglycemia. My inflammation was sky high, my thyroid and blood pressure medications kept piling up, and I felt like my body was working against me no matter how hard I tried. Now, at 61, I’m standing in a completely different place. My thyroid medication has been cut down to a quarter of what it once was, my blood pressure meds reduced by half, and my Hashimoto’s antibodies slashed in half. The chronic inflammation that once ruled my days has eased in ways I never thought possible. My body feels resilient, my systems are calmer, and the fireflies of inflammation that once swarmed me, 116 of them, are gone. Ye...

✨ BrainMD Review: Why I Take Happy Saffron Plus Daily (and Just Added These L-Theanine Gummies)

Image
I wasn’t planning to write about these supplements… but after realizing how much they’ve impacted my energy, focus, and mood — it felt selfish not to share. 🌿 First up: Happy Saffron Plus Let me just say it:  this is one of the only mood-support supplements I’ve taken consistently  — because it actually does something noticeable. 🧠 What It Is: Happy Saffron Plus by BrainMD  is a triple-action formula that supports mood, memory, and focus. It combines: Saffron Extract  – clinically studied to support emotional health Curcumin  – the anti-inflammatory powerhouse Zinc  – essential for neurotransmitter support And let’s talk science — not vibes: 💡 The Research: Saffron extract (specifically  affron® , which is used here) has been shown in double-blind, placebo-controlled studies to: Improve symptoms of low mood Support emotional balance Help with occasional anxiety Curcumin is also included to support the gut-brain axis — because inflammation ofte...

✨ Why I’m Adding NAD+ Injections to My Longevity Stack (and What Else I’m Trying from Amble) 💉🧬

Image
I’ve been taking  liposomal NAD+ precursor capsules from CATAKOR  for over a year, and I can honestly say they’ve been one of the smartest additions to my routine. 💊⚡ This isn’t some jittery quick fix. The energy is smooth, the focus is steady, and the mental clarity is real. People often tell me I  don’t look my age , so that’s a plus. But for me, this has never been about chasing youth. It’s about staying functional, strong, and mentally sharp as I head into my 60s with purpose. Now I’m stepping it up a notch. My boyfriend has been doing  monthly NAD+ infusions  for a while now. They’ve helped him, but they’re also uncomfortable, time-consuming, and extremely expensive. I’d love to try them myself, but the idea of sitting at an infusion clinic for an hour every month, plus the cost, just doesn’t fit into my schedule or my budget. 💸 That’s why  Amble’s injectable NAD+  caught my attention. It offers a more affordable, flexible option that fits...

🧨 Friday, July 5 – Post-Fourth Reset & Breakthrough Check-In 🎇 END of the 10 month rollercoaster and “STALL"

Image
I've had losing phases over the last 10 months, but they were always short-lived, frustratingly inconsistent, and often followed by rebounds. The backstory matters: last September, my doctor had to lower my dose of tirzepatide from 12.5 mg to 7.5 mg—not because of blood sugar meds (I don’t take any), but due to repeated  reactive hypoglycemia  episodes. That’s a rare side effect, especially for someone who isn’t diabetic. We couldn’t find 10 mg at the time, so we dropped to 7.5—and it completely backfired. I gained, my inflammation returned, and I felt like I was trapped in my own body again. Eventually, I pushed to try 10 mg again. I couldn’t get the brand version, so I switched to a  compounded GLP-1/GIP mix through AMBLE , and things started to level out. But for months, the journey has been rocky. Even while eating right and staying active, progress felt elusive—mirroring the way things were before medication. The one major factor always working against me?  Slee...
