Calm, Cool, and Zepbound: What Happens When I Spend a Day With People Who Actually Love Me

Image
Saturday, June 28, 2025 Today was a solid reminder that health isn’t just about metrics—it’s about joy, connection, and getting the hell away from toxic environments. I spent the day with people who love me, people I trust, and it shows in my numbers. No drama, no operating room tension—just fresh air, laughter, and real companionship. 🧠 Energy & Stress Welltory shows a noticeable uptick in energy compared to the past few days. My stress level dropped and stayed low for most of the day. I woke up refreshed, had a peaceful morning, and stayed grounded throughout. This is what nervous system regulation actually  feels  like. Stress : Low, smooth baseline Energy : Trending upward Mood : Even and grounded, no spikes ❤️ HRV, Heart Rate & Recovery HRV is stable and higher than my weekday average, no doubt helped by the relaxed pace of the day. Resting heart rate stayed in my healthy range, and my recovery metrics are more in line with what they  should  be when I’...

Digestion Doesn’t Have to Be a Mystery—Here’s What I Use to Stay Regular (and Burp-Free)

Image
Let’s get real about a not-so-fun part of the GLP-1 journey:  digestive side effects . Tirzepatide has changed my life—but it's also changed my gut. I’ve been on it for nearly three years, and once I hit the higher doses (10 mg, now 12.5 mg), I noticed two very common but very unpleasant issues:  constipation  and  sulfur burps . I’ve managed both successfully with a combo I swear by. And today? I needed both. Here's why. What Are Sulfur Burps, and Why Do They Happen on Tirzepatide? If you’ve never experienced a sulfur burp, count yourself lucky. They taste and smell like rotten eggs, thanks to  hydrogen sulfide —a gas created when bacteria break down food in your digestive tract. Tirzepatide slows down gastric emptying, which is great for satiety and blood sugar control, but it also gives food more time to ferment… and when that happens? You get  the burps . It doesn’t happen every day for me—but when it does, it’s awful. I got hit with a strong one ...

My Enzyme Journey: From Post-Gallbladder Chaos to Digestive Harmony

Image
Back in 2004, I had my gallbladder removed—and for the next 16 years I lived in fear of every meal. Violent bouts of diarrhea would strike without warning, and I tried hundreds of remedies (and way too much Imodium) just to eat normally. When I discovered digestive enzymes in 2020, they were a game-changer, finally stopping the runs and restoring my confidence at the table. Fast forward to August 2022, when I started Mounjaro (tirzepatide) for weight loss. Suddenly, my digestive drama flipped: the diarrhea was gone—but chronic constipation, bloating, and painful bathroom backups showed up as GLP-1 side effects. Thankfully, now, Physician’s Choice Digestive Enzymes formula stepped up. Now I take one capsule on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday—prophylactically—to keep both ends of my gut spectrum in check. Miss a dose and the discomfort returns, so yes, we can talk poop on the blog! Beyond normalizing bowel movements, these enzymes banish sulfur burps and cut bloating to alm...

May 17 Health Check-In: Morning vs. Evening Welltory Comparison

Image
 I kicked off the day at  8:14 AM  with Welltory showing: Health:  100 % (Resilient) Focus:  63 % (Decent) Energy:  43 % (Moderate) Stress:  72 % (Elevated) By  6:09 PM , here’s the shift: Health:  100 % → 100 % (still Resilient) Focus:  63 % → 83 % (Decent → Sharp) Energy:  43 % → 94 % (Moderate → Plenty) Stress:  72 % → 34 % (Elevated → Light) My autonomic balance flipped from SNS-dominant in the morning to PSNS-dominant this evening (SNS 28 / PSNS 90). Coherence dipped (75 % → 26 %), but HRV soared to 100 % (High). My CGM- Libre 3 at 6:07 PM:  85 mg/dL—well within range.  It’s been a good glucose day.  No dips to speak of. Nutrition (by 6:16 PM): Protein: 119 g / 152 g goal Carbs: 131 g / 152 g goal Fat: 79 g / 58 g goal Fiber: 5 g / 21 g goal Supplements & Meds (all taken): NP Thyroid, Lopressor, Zepbound 12.5 mg (Friday), Alpha Brain , Happy Saffron Plus , CataKor NAD+ , Triquetra L-methylfolate 7.5 mg,...

5/15/25 High Resilience, Low Reserves: Navigating the Drain with Grace

Image
Today marks  Week 142  since I began Zepbound on August 19, 2022. This journey keeps evolving, and today’s data reminds me that healing doesn’t always feel like soaring—sometimes, it feels like endurance. Morning Check-In: At 6:35 AM, my nervous system was in full parasympathetic flow: Stress:  41% Energy:  84% Health:  100% HRV Score:  100% Nervous System Balance:  PSNS 100 / SNS 28 Clear head, calm body, and steady glucose at  99 mg/dL . This was one of those smooth-start mornings where everything aligned. Midday Check-In: By 11:37 AM, the shift had started: Stress:  67% Energy:  44% HRV Score:  30% Focus:  68% Nervous System Balance:  SNS 42 / PSNS 20 My body moved into an “on alert” state—not full burnout, but I could feel I was borrowing energy to get through the second half of the day. Evening Check-In: At 8:24 PM, it was obvious my reserves had been tapped: Stress:  83% Energy:  32% HRV Score:  7% Coh...

5-14-25 Stable Glucose, Shaky System: My Body’s Plot Twist Today

Image
Last night I got decent sleep—over 6 hours—with a boost in deep and REM sleep that pushed my SleepWatch score to 448. While that was encouraging, I still woke up running on low battery. My morning HRV was just  34% , with  energy at 16% , and a  medium stress load (66%) . My  health resilience was maxed at 100% , but I could feel the disconnect between my body’s strength and my brain’s sluggishness. My glucose started off well at  105 mg/dL , holding steady for most of the day—until around 5:15 PM when I dropped to  62 mg/dL , triggering a hypoglycemia alert. I corrected it quickly, but it was a sharp dip and definitely contributed to the shakiness and low energy I’d been sensing. By  evening , my HRV cratered to just  5% , and my nervous system flipped into full  sympathetic dominance (53 SNS vs. 10 PSNS) . Stress hit  86% , and energy crept up only slightly to  21% . Focus dipped throughout the day as well, ending at a modes...
