Late Night Check-In: May 20, 2025

Image
Tonight’s wind-down metrics show just how much my body has been holding together under pressure—and how much it's asking for a break. Stress:  75% (Elevated) Energy:  47% (Moderate) Health:  45% (Vulnerable, dropped 49%) HRV Score:  7% (Low variability = low recovery) Coherence:  72% (High—my systems are still syncing well) Glucose:  94 mg/dL, smooth and steady Despite the strain, I’m coping. My nervous system is still leaning toward the  sympathetic/fight-or-flight side , and my energy is being channeled just to maintain the basics. No surprise that my health score took a dive today. Still, I’m holding a strong coherence score, which tells me my brain, heart, and breath are working in harmony even under stress. That’s encouraging. Glucose is in a great place—flat and in range. That’s a huge win for a day like this. The truth is: I'm tired. Deeply. But I'm also aware—and that's a kind of strength too. The data backs what I’ve felt all day: wired,...

Vretigo hit hard last night. Daily Health Check-In — May 20, 2025

Image
Today was a rest-and-recovery kind of day, prompted by a rough episode of vertigo that hit hard last night. I took all my regular medications, plus diazepam, which I reserve for days when vertigo makes normal functioning impossible. On these days, I can't work—not because I don't want to, but because I physically can’t. I lose pay, time, and momentum. And what’s worse: there’s no predictable pattern to it. Living with Neurological Vertigo My vertigo isn’t caused by otoliths or displaced ear crystals. This isn’t a textbook case of BPPV.  Mine is neurological , and after decades of testing and tracking—with my doctors digging into everything from blood sugar to weather shifts to hormone swings—we’ve never found a trigger. It comes and goes like a thief in the night, uninvited and unexplained. And it's  exhausting . The spinning, the nausea, the instability—it doesn’t just rob me of physical balance, it  steals time , productivity, and emotional bandwidth. Living with ...

May 18, 2025 – Wellness Check-In

Image
Woke up a little stiff, but not nearly as bad as last week. The HOKA Bondis continue to be a game changer—Achilles insertional tendinitis is still 99% improved. That's a huge win. Morning Metrics: HRV: slightly up from yesterday Glucose: steady within preferred range Energy: stable throughout the morning Stress: low Compared to earlier this morning, my post-lunch Welltory metrics showed a slight dip in energy but bounced back by dinner. Glucose continued trending smooth. By evening, metrics indicated balanced recovery. Nutrition & Macros: Calories: 1,804 kcal Protein: 132g Carbs: 128g Fat: 76g Fiber: 18g Macros were dialed in. High-protein, low-glycemic foods throughout the day. No gut upset, and I alternated Coke Zero with Poland Spring water with IQmix Movement:  Hit my 22-minute goal for the day. Light walk mid day and after dinner, keeping pace and form consistent. New sneakers helped tremendously. Bought Morton’s extension insoles to help with L Hallux limitus Medica...

5/15/25 High Resilience, Low Reserves: Navigating the Drain with Grace

Image
Today marks  Week 142  since I began Zepbound on August 19, 2022. This journey keeps evolving, and today’s data reminds me that healing doesn’t always feel like soaring—sometimes, it feels like endurance. Morning Check-In: At 6:35 AM, my nervous system was in full parasympathetic flow: Stress:  41% Energy:  84% Health:  100% HRV Score:  100% Nervous System Balance:  PSNS 100 / SNS 28 Clear head, calm body, and steady glucose at  99 mg/dL . This was one of those smooth-start mornings where everything aligned. Midday Check-In: By 11:37 AM, the shift had started: Stress:  67% Energy:  44% HRV Score:  30% Focus:  68% Nervous System Balance:  SNS 42 / PSNS 20 My body moved into an “on alert” state—not full burnout, but I could feel I was borrowing energy to get through the second half of the day. Evening Check-In: At 8:24 PM, it was obvious my reserves had been tapped: Stress:  83% Energy:  32% HRV Score:  7% Coh...

5-14-25 Stable Glucose, Shaky System: My Body’s Plot Twist Today

Image
Last night I got decent sleep—over 6 hours—with a boost in deep and REM sleep that pushed my SleepWatch score to 448. While that was encouraging, I still woke up running on low battery. My morning HRV was just  34% , with  energy at 16% , and a  medium stress load (66%) . My  health resilience was maxed at 100% , but I could feel the disconnect between my body’s strength and my brain’s sluggishness. My glucose started off well at  105 mg/dL , holding steady for most of the day—until around 5:15 PM when I dropped to  62 mg/dL , triggering a hypoglycemia alert. I corrected it quickly, but it was a sharp dip and definitely contributed to the shakiness and low energy I’d been sensing. By  evening , my HRV cratered to just  5% , and my nervous system flipped into full  sympathetic dominance (53 SNS vs. 10 PSNS) . Stress hit  86% , and energy crept up only slightly to  21% . Focus dipped throughout the day as well, ending at a modes...
